Repository: Myeloma Biorepository

General

The Multiple Myeloma Bank contains bone marrow derived samples from patients at different stages of their cancer treatment at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Patient diagnoses include: Multiple Myeloma, MGUS, Plasma Cell Disorder, and Amyloidosis.

All specimen requests must be approved by committe member, Dr. Seema Singhal and be accompanied by an IRB approved protocol. A Methods/Justifications form must be completed in order to justfiy the disbursement request.

This is a general descripiton of the clinical research repository. Tell us the name of the clinical resarch repository. Provide the following:

  • Principal Investigator
  • IRB protocol/number covering the clinical research repository.
  • Manager
  • Committee members for data/specimen release.
  • Provide basic instruction for the IRB process:
    • Explain how a separate IRB protocol will be needed to obtain data/tissues.
    • Reference the IRB template linked at the top of the page if applicable.
  • Provide basic instruction for the scientific requirments necessary to make a disbursement request.
    • Explain the purpose of submitting a Methods and Justifications for a disbursment request.

Specimens Available
Plasma B cells isolated from bone marrow aspirations using CD138+ immunomagnetic bead selection and crypreserved using a 10% DMSO cryo media
MNCs depleted of CD138+ plasma cells. Cryopreserved in 10% DMSO media
Bone Marrow MNCs. Cryopreserved in 10% DMSO media

Whole- Bone Marrow

An IRB approved protocol must accompany the sample request before the specimens can be released.

This is a general descripiton of the specimens collected for the clinical research repository.  Provide the following:

  • What organ tissue are available
  • How many samples (could have multiple samples per patient)
  • How many samples available per type tissue type
  • What kind of clinical data or what kind of specimen types can I withdraw
  • Possible data about preparation options for each specimen type.
  • Detail costs assocated with the disbursement of specimens.
Data

Requests for information on clinical data points such as Race, Gender, Disease Status, and MM Isotype can be made to the Pathology Core Facility
